How to Install Photoshop Brushes With Photo Impression 5

Photo Impression 5 is a photo-editing software suite released by ArcSoft. Unlike Adobe Photoshop, Photo Impression offers a less robust array of photo-editing features. However, it is also more economical. Photoshop paintbrushes (decorative tools used to digitally edit a photo) and similarly customized editing tools can be installed to increase the utility of Arcsoft’s Photo Impression 5.

  1. Open Arcsoft’s Photo Impression 5. The software operates best when run in Windows XP or Windows Vista with 256MB of RAM or more. While 50MB of hard-drive storage space is required, 100MB or more is recommended for faster photo editing (as well as to store the additional photo-editing brushes you will be installing).
  2. Step 2

Locate custom Photoshop brushes. Custom brushes can be obtained from graphic-design studios or commercial enterprises, or for free from websites like GetBrushes.com. (Follow the link in Resources.)

  3. Step 3

Download the custom Photoshop brushes. Save the files with an “.abr” file suffix to your computer desktop to make them easy to locate later in the installation process.

  4. Step 4

Click “Start” in your Startup bar and select “My Computer.” Open the C:\\ drive and navigate to Program Files\ArcSoft\Photo Impression\Brushes.

  5. Step 5

Drag the “.abr” brushes file to the folder you opened in Step 4. The brushes should now be available in the brushes palette in Photo Impression 5.
